Each tablet contains 1 mg of finasteride.
Take one tablet once daily, as directed by the prescribing clinician. Swallow the tablet whole with water. It can be taken with or without food.
Do not take more than one tablet per day. If you forget a dose, skip the missed tablet and take your next tablet at the usual time. Do not take a double dose.
Finasteride is used to treat male-pattern hair loss in adult men.
It works by reducing the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that can cause susceptible hair follicles to shrink.
Reducing DHT can help slow further hair loss and may encourage hair growth in some men.
Finasteride must be taken consistently. It normally takes approximately three to six months before stabilisation or improvement may become noticeable.
Continued treatment is required to maintain the benefit. If treatment is stopped, its beneficial effects will gradually reverse and hair loss is likely to resume.
Results vary between individuals and regrowth cannot be guaranteed.
Finasteride 1 mg is intended for adult men with male-pattern hair loss. It must not be
taken by women or anyone under 18.
Possible side effects include reduced sex drive, difficulty getting or maintaining an
erection and ejaculation problems. In some cases, sexual side effects have continued after treatment has stopped.
Finasteride has also been associated with low mood, depression and suicidal thoughts. Stop taking Finasteride 1 mg and contact your doctor promptly if you develop depression or suicidal thoughts.
Women who
are pregnant or may become pregnant must not handle crushed or broken tablets.
Always read the Patient Information Leaflet supplied with the medicine before starting treatment.
Finasteride is a once-daily prescription tablet that works by reducing DHT, one of the principal causes of male-pattern hair loss.
Minoxidil is applied directly to the scalp and works by stimulating the hair follicles. It does not reduce DHT.
Some men may be suitable for one treatment, while others may be advised to use both. The appropriate treatment will depend on the medical assessment and the prescribing clinician’s decision.
Finasteride may be suitable for adult men experiencing gradual male-pattern thinning or hair loss around the crown, top of the scalp or hairline.
It may not be suitable if:
- Your hair loss is sudden, patchy or unexplained.
- Your scalp is inflamed, painful or infected.
- You already take finasteride or dutasteride.
- You have previously had an allergic reaction to finasteride.
- You have a history of depression or suicidal thoughts.
- You are trying to conceive or have concerns about fertility.
Customers must complete the online medical assessment. Treatment will only be supplied if it is considered safe and appropriate by the prescribing clinician.

How it Works
Finasteride works by inhibiting the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is the primary hormone responsible for male pattern baldness. By reducing DHT levels in the scalp, Finasteride helps prevent hair loss and can promote regrowth of existing hair. Clinical studies have shown that Finasteride is effective in slowing hair loss and, in many cases, promoting new hair growth within 3-6 months of consistent use.
Dosage & Usage
For Hair Loss (1mg): Take one 1mg tablet daily with or without food. Consistency is key—take it at the same time each day for best results. Results typically appear after 3-6 months of continuous use.
For BPH (5mg): Take one 5mg tablet daily as directed by your healthcare provider.
Important: Do not crush, chew, or split tablets. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but do not double up on doses. Continue taking Finasteride for as long as recommended by your doctor to maintain results.
